Okay, so this is basically a list of things I like, which could also be referred to as Things to Make Your Friday a Little More Awesome.
If we were having coffee together, this is where I would be like, “Oh my gosh, you have to check this out….!“ But since that isn’t happening today, consider this my online version of enthusiastic recommendations.
1) I came across this blog, Can I Get Another Bottle of Whine, a few weeks ago; and I immediately planted myself on her email list.
The writer (her name is Kate) makes me laugh. A lot. Straight up LOL. (And frankly, that is the only time you’ll ever see me write LOL. Because I have weird issues with it. Don’t ask, because it’s irrational.)
You’ll probably like Kate, too. I would tell you to mention me when you introduce yourself, but she doesn’t know me at all. So don’t do that, because it will be awkward for you.
2) My friend Hillary has a monogram shop in Huntsville, Alabama called Mint Julep Monograms. Because all good Southern girls are obsessed with monograms. (I personally don’t qualify as a good Southern girl, since sweet tea is not my thing, and I never took an etiquette class.)
But I digress.
Boot cuffs are the thing to wear this winter. So if you don’t have any yet, Hillary can help you with that issue. Also, this is the perfect stocking stuffer for mothers and daughters and girlfriends and that sort of thing.
3) This video by comedian John Crist. I saw John be funny in real life at the START conference in Nashville last fall, and he immediately became one of my favorites. Because I heart sarcastic people.
4) Y’all. You know I’m not a superstar in the kitchen. But when my friend, Denee, made these Pumpkin Snickerdoodle Bars, I nearly fainted at their deliciousness. She had discovered the recipe in a small-town newspaper. (Forgive me, I can’t recall the town or the newspaper or the recipe maker.) (Except I assume her name is Linda because she provides a “quick tip” at the end of the recipe.)
All that to say, I made them three weeks ago, and people liked them. That statement is phenomenal in itself.
I told my mother that these bars might very well be my new thing. (At which point I know she mumbled, “Bless her heart…” in her head.)
I am dying to hear what you think about all this. That’s not just a nicety. I really do want to know!
Enjoy your weekend…and make these cookie bars – you won’t regret it!
p.s. I’m so glad you all hang out with me. That’s all.
